Bridges

A Bridge is a solution for filling gaps in your smile. If you have lost a tooth then a bridge will fill the space.

Bridges are the traditional method for filling a gap. To place a bridge, the teeth on either side of the gap are prepared and then an impression is taken. Our laboratory technicians then fabricate a bridge to fit over the gap. The bridge is bonded to the prepared teeth (the "abutments") and the middle tooth (the "pontic") fills the space.

Bridges are ideal for situation where the teeth on either side of the gap are already heavily filled or have crowns on them. This is because when the teeth are prepared, a significant amount of tooth structure must be removed to make the bridge strong. If the teeth on either side of the gap are healthy and untouched, then another option such as an implant or a partial denture may be more suitable.
