Farewell to Dr John Holmes

By January 31, 2019 3 Comments

Our much loved Dr John Holmes retired from Dentistry and left McIntosh Dental incorporating Lincoln Dental at the end of 2018. We wish him all the very best for his well-deserved retirement and look forward to him popping in for a coffee to fill us in on his adventures. John will still be part of the McIntosh Dental team in an advisory/consultant capacity.

John graduated Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1970 from Otago University. He began work in Private Practice in 1971 and started Holmes & East with Dr Robert East in 1979. Ten years later, Lincoln Dental became their new home on Woodford Avenue. John and Robert remained there for nearly 30 years until April 2018 when Lincoln Dental joined McIntosh Dental at 43 Lincoln Road.

John is looking forward to his ‘free time’. He tells us it will be spent cooking (and eating), travelling, racing cars and ‘the best job in the world’, watching his three grandchildren as they grow.

While John enjoys his new ‘best job in the world’, we welcome a new member to the McIntosh Dental team.

Introducing Dr Beverley Tam. Beverley was born in Auckland and attended Epsom Girls’ Grammar. Like John, Beverley also completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Otago University, graduating in 1997, giving her more than 21 years’ experience in Dental Surgery. Beverley is warm, kind, and cares deeply for her patients and we are really excited to have her on the team.

John is confident that Beverley will look after all his patients with the same care and attention that he has over many years and he feels happy to be leaving his patients in excellent hands.

Thanks, John – we’ll miss you!

Welcome Beverley – we’re glad to have you on our team!

    Dear John,

Very, very sad to read this but delighted that you’re finally setting the weapons aside after such a long and successful career.

Your talent and skill is unquestioned but your charm, professionalism and way with your clients is sublime … and complete the package.

I feel totally blessed to have been under your care for so many years and will miss our brief and muffled (or should that be muzzled) “updates”.

Thanks not only for looking after me but also the brief period with Oliver, sincerely appreciated.

Without doubt, you’re an admired and enduring craftsman.

Enjoy your dedication to Janice, the girls and grandchildren … you lucky man!

I hope we’ll keep bumping into each other at the odd “event”.

    Stay well and happy.

    Best wishes,
    Kevin
