We are excited to announce the winners of the McIntosh Dental Orthodontic Scholarships for 2019!

Once again we received a very large number of entries, and it was extremely hard narrowing these down to eight finalists and finally four winners. But we can now share with you that the winners are:

Quane Hailes

Quane is a Year 7 student attending Liston College. Quane excelled during his years at St Paul’s Primary School, both academically and in extra-curricular activities. He was a great role model to his fellow students and was elected Head Boy last year. At Liston College he has continued to excel, and was awarded top Year 7 student this year. He is an extremely hard worker and we are delighted to provide him with the scholarship opportunity.

Rico Bendall

Rico is a Year 8 student attending Henderson Intermediate. Rico was recognised for his high academic achievements many times during his years at Summerland Primary, as well as for creativity, spirit and sports. He has continued to be a high academic achiever at Henderson Intermediate, particularly in Maths. He has also embraced the many sporting opportunities offered, as well as school responsibilities, clubs and Kapa Haka. Congratulations to Rico on being a 2019 Orthodontic Scholarship winner!

Stella Hammond

Stella is a Year 10 student attending St Dominic’s Catholic College. She is above standard in all of her subjects, including taking NCEA Level 1 Maths. In Year 8, she competed in the Kiwi Science Competition run by the University of Canterbury and placed first in New Zealand. Stella is also a competitive swimmer training six to seven times per week, sometimes for as long as 2 ½ hours at a time.  We are excited to provide Stella with this scholarship opportunity.

Vegas Hart

Vegas is a Year 8 student attending Henderson Intermediate. Vegas is a dedicated student who loves school and particularly excels in English and Maths. He is an accomplished dancer in tap, hip hop and contemporary and also holds a brown belt in karate. His love of reading has resulted in both librarian and reading awards, and he is always kind, thoughtful and considerate of his fellow students, family and friends. Congratulations to Vegas on being one of this year’s Orthodontic Scholarship winners!
