COVID-19: Phone Assessment Process For Emergency Dental

By April 10, 2020 No Comments

During the Alert 4 lock down phase, McIntosh Dental remains open for emergency dental care. All routine appointments have been deferred. If you believe you may require emergency dental treatment, please phone us first on 837-2598. We will conduct a phone assessment with you to allow us to assess your condition. We may request that you email us a photo of your injury.

  1. Where possible we will provide treatment care over the phone. In some cases treatment may be able to be deferred until the Alert level reduces, and home measures can be taken to protect your oral health without the need for a face-to-face appointment. If prescription medication is required we can send these directly to your preferred pharmacy so there is no need to pick these up from us in person.
  2. If we determine that an appointment in person is necessary, we will ask several questions regarding your health and risk status. These include whether you have tested positive for COVID-19, if you have travelled internationally within the past 14 days, if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus, your age and if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms. This information will help us to determine our ability to treat you safely.

For all of our emergency patients, we are taking every possible step to protect your safety and well-being in our clinic. If you have dental concerns please phone us on 837-2598. We are open from 8:00am – 1:00pm, seven days per week. If you phone out of these hours please leave us a message or email info@mcintoshdental.co.nz and we will get in touch with you.
